Life is too normal, dare to be different…. let’s go raft the Sun Koshi River in Nepal!

Low altitude, big volume river, warm waters, and fine beaches for camping.

Dear Rafting Lovers,

We have designed a unique adventure trip: 168 miles of river-running in 8 days. Challenge yourself by rafting the mountainous Sun Koshi River’s powerful whitewater and thundering rapids, which spans grades III to IV. Conquer some of the biggest waves in Nepal, and spend peaceful nights on fine sandy beaches under the open sky.

The Sun Koshi River:

The Sun Koshi River provides one of the world’s ten best river journeys. Sun means “gold” and Koshi means “river” in the Nepali language. Therefore, Sun Koshi is known as  the “River of Gold”; it originates in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China.

Incredible scenery:

You will enjoy the wonderful scenery, particularly the open plains, the thriving village of Chatara, and the beautiful Mahabharata Mountain. This is unspoiled rural Nepal where you will hear friendly shouts of “Namaste” from the bank when you pass traditional villages. No roads and towns interrupt the starting and ending points of the river rafting trip.

More information about your rafting spot:

The Sun Koshi River flows eastward in Nepal through the great valley between the Mahabharat Lekh mountains and the Himalayas. It forms the watershed for most of eastern Nepal and gathers strength from tributaries draining the highest mountains in the world. It emerges onto the northern plain of India where it joins the Ganges.

The water volume increases considerably with the flow from these tributaries. The average volume in November is usually 400 cumecs (14,000 cfs).

Most of the major rapids are formed by monsoon debris brought in by side streams, and loose rockfall.
